The plan was still warm when the president of the flight attendants’ union appeared on television — holding something, reading from it, taking her time. Management watched precisely as much as she could bear.
What followed was not a response to the broadcast. It was a response to the airtime. Aluminum Lady has decided the industry’s most underexposed asset is herself, and she has directed this office to correct it. Ideas were pitched. One had a jet in it. The last one would have worked, cost nothing, and made the news on its own — and it is the only one that was refused.
The refusal came with a principle attached. The principle is not open for questions.
