Where the Satire Ends

The joke is that management has turned a “listening tour” into an event where employees are mostly invited to listen.

Everything sounds generous on the surface: transparency, open dialogue, leadership access, factual updates. But the memo keeps quietly revealing the real corporate logic underneath: show up unpaid, ask approved questions, check the portal, and understand that being “heard” is not the same as anything changing.

The attached video works as the punchline because it previews the actual Q&A experience: every answer sounds polished, professional, and caring, while expertly dodging the question.

The satire is in the fake warmth. Management is not refusing to listen. They are simply listening in the least useful way possible.

Dear Employees,

Because we remain deeply committed to bringing you the most factual, transparent, leadership-approved information available about everything happening inside the company that affects all of our lives, we are pleased to announce additional dates for the Management Listening Tour.

These sessions are an important opportunity for you to hear directly from management about the decisions we have already made, the concerns we are actively aware of, and the exciting ways we plan to continue monitoring them.

Please make time to attend on your day off, as this will not be a paid event. We know your time is valuable, which is why we are asking you to donate it back to the company during a period when labor costs remain, frankly, a very heavy backpack.

We also ask that employees remain available for the operation as much as possible. For this reason, attendance opportunities may shift without notice based on staffing needs, leadership availability, premium customer demand, and how well previous stops on the tour have gone for management.

During each session, leadership will share updates, offer perspective, and answer your questions whenever possible, provided those questions are respectful, solution-oriented, and do not require immediate accountability.

To help you prepare, we are including a short clip of what you can expect should you make the wise decision to attend one of these sessions.

As you will see, our Q&A format is designed to encourage open dialogue while maintaining the appropriate distinction between employee feedback and business strategy. We welcome your concerns, and we look forward to acknowledging them in the most professional manner possible.

Please note that your presence at these sessions will be noted in your file, as will your absence, tone, facial expression, and level of visible alignment.

We want every employee to feel heard, valued, and appropriately reminded that leadership has the experience to see the bigger picture.
